The Ryanair Travel Fare Increase That You Need To Know About

Darragh Berry

One of Ireland’s biggest airlines is upping its prices just a little bit.

Ryanair is increasing its Priority boarding fees to a maximum of €7 per flight. The original standard Priority boarding was €5 per flight and although the fee originally was €5 ‘online’ and €6 for ‘post booking/airport’ it did say that “an increased charge is applicable for priority boarding on selected routes” according to their website.

Therefore, the new maximum fee is €7 where the increased charge applies.

The change was slipped in quietly by the company sometime in May but wasn’t announced aloud.

At the start of the year, it was announced that ‘non-priority’ customers were required to check carry-on bag into the hold for free while customers who paid the priority boarding fee could bring two carry-on bags onto the aircraft.

In a statement on the priority boarding increase, a spokesperson for Ryanair told Lovin Media Group that:

“Like all businesses, our optional fees can change unlike our fares which keep coming down. There have been some recent changes as per our list of fees published on our website.

“Priority boarding, which allows customers to bring 2 pieces of hand luggage on board with them and board the plane first, costs €5/€6 (depending on the route) at the time of booking and €6/€7 (depending on the route) when added to a booking.”
