Saoirse Ronan Among Hollywood A-Listers Slammed For ‘Embarrassing’ Magazine Cover

Megan Cassidy

Such a glaring oversight.

Feminist sentiment is strong in Hollywood right now. Recent revelations about Harvey Weinstein opened the floodgates for people to come forward with the truth about some of the most powerful males in the entertainment industry and their disturbing sexual predation.

So it’s no surprise that the balance has tipped towards the amazing work of women in film – and rightly so – but this recent cover of LA Times did nothing to further the movement.

In fact, quite the opposite.

The cover boasts the headline ‘A Shift in Focus’ with some of Hollywood’s biggest female stars – Saoirse Ronan, Jessica Chastain, Diane Kruger, Margot Robbie, Kate Winslet and Annette Bening.

But there’s one glaring omission, first spotted by journalist Rebecca Carroll on Twitter, who wrote:

‘Honestly @jes_chastain as an outspoken voice for equality how do you pose for a photo like this and not feel absolutely mortified by the blatant exclusion? How is it possible to not understand the msg this photo sends?’

Twitter echoed the sentiment, with many condemning the cover and demanding an apology.

Let’s hope LA Times acknowledges their mistake soon.
