Snack mix sold in Aldi recalled due to presence of the pesticide

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has recalled a a snack food sold in Aldi stores due to the the presence of the pesticide ethylene oxide.

In a statement, the FSAI said that ‘all batches of Snackrite Savoury Snack Mix (pictured below) are being recalled due to the presence of the pesticide ethylene oxide in the sesame seeds used in the product. This pesticide is not authorised for use in foods sold in the EU.’

The statement adds that ‘the implicated product was sold in Aldi stores, point-of-sale recall notices are being displayed’. A notice on the FSAI website says that the product in question is the 250g Snackrite Savoury Snack Mix. All batch codes and ‘best before’ dates have been implicated.
