Éireann has issued a Status Yellow snow/ice warning from midnight tonight until tomorrow afternoon.

The warning will be in place for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Wicklow, Offaly, Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.

Met Éireann said there’s a risk of snow accumulations at lower levels in these areas.

Tomorrow will see an icy start to the day with rain, sleet and snow across the southern half of the country.

a Status Yellow warning for snow and ice will also be in place in Antrim, Armagh, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry from 3pm today until just before midnight tomorrow night.

At the moment, things are expected to settle down for New Year’s day, as Met Éireann predicts “bright sunny spells”.

They said, “New Year’s Day will dawn cold and frosty. It’ll be a bright day with good sunny spells but also some passing showers, possibly wintry on high ground”.
