This Weekend Is Going To Be So Hot A Wildfire Warning Has Been Issued

Sarah

Forest owners and farmers have been warned to prepare for “likely outbreaks” of fire as temperatures are expected to get scorching this weekend.

The Forest Service of the Department of Agriculture issued the warning following a number of wildfire outbreaks out in recent weeks around the country.

With temperatures expected to reach almost 20 degrees this weekend, the current high pressure weather patterns continue with a High Fire Risk (Condition Orange) warning for upland vegetarian areas.

The risk will peak tomorrow and is likely to remain in place until Monday afternoon.

The Irish Independent reported that the Fire Department advised “fire lines, fire plans and fire suppression equipment should be reviewed and made ready, while contingency plans around insurance, helicopter contracts etc should be checked and confirmed.”

It also said the need for increased vigilance at this time cannot be ‘overstated’.

Forest owners, farmers, rural dwellers and anyone else in the countryside are asked keep an eye out for any suspicious or illegal activity to the Gardai and to report all fires immediately to the Fire and Emergency Services by calling 112/999.
