For this Irish bar to be named “one of the best in the world” is some achievement, especially since it was only founded in 2013.

The World’s Best Bar awards took place last week and while it was a London bar that came out on top, this Irish bar came very close.

The bar in New York which is owned by two Irishmen came in at 16th in the rankings for 2018.

Jack McGarry and Sean Muldoon set up the Dead Rabbit pub in Lower Manhattan in 2013 and pride themselves on their traditional Irish scene.

The World’s 50 Best Bars website said about the pub that:

“From décor to drinks to service, few bars are as meticulously thought through as The Dead Rabbit, the former world’s best bar that is fast becoming a classic.

“You can appreciate it on many levels.

“It’s an Irish bar and the best of its genre, a cocktail bar with some of the tastiest mixed drinks around, or a brand steeped in narratives – not least its comic book menus, books, merchandise and now self-titled Irish whiskey.”

The title of best bar in the world went to a London spot called Dandelyan, which is situated in the Mondrian Hotel in London.

This is the 10th year of the awards.
