It seems our first president knew what was up, as his family’s first gaff is up for sale, and it’s sensational.
The aptly named ‘Castlehyde’ is a meticulously restored estate situated on the banks of the Blackwater, regarded as one of Ireland’s best for salmon fishing,
It was the seat of the Hyde family, completed in c. 1801 for John Hyde in an incredibly elegant Palladian style.
The home faces south overlooking the River Blackwater which flows through the estate.
The design of the house, and in particular through the course of the most recent restoration, has enabled almost all of the reception rooms and bedrooms to have commanding views of the river.

The current owner’s family bought the estate back in 1999 – and at the time, it was regarded as almost beyond repair. However, an ambitious and extensive restoration project led to the most impressive outcome. The project took a full four years, but it was so worth it, as now, the home looks like this…

The home features out buildings, a swimming pool, top-of-the-line fishing facilities, extensively manicured gardens, a tennis court and an exquisite waterside location.
Oh, and it’s priced at just €20million.
Pocket change, right?
