Medicinal Cannabis Campaigner Vera Twomey Will March Again This Weekend

James Fenton

Very Twomey, the Cork mother whose campaign to legalise medicinal cannabis has captured the nation’s imagination, is set to take to the streets again this weekend.

Last month, Vera undertook a journey from her home city to the government buildings in Dublin in a bid to highlight the plight of her daughter Ava who suffers from a rare form of epilepsy and has multiple seizures each day.

She is now urging people to join her on her march in Cork on Saturday which leaves the Grand Parade at 2pm.

Vera has already spoken with Health Minister Simon Harris on a number of occasions and told Red FM this morning:

“We’d like people to come out and support us. If they’d like to represent their own family members at this walk, that’s what it’s about. It’s about letting the government know and letting Simon Harris know that we need this medication and that we need to get the right medication. Not something that’s second-best but something that is effective and suitable and that works.”
