They serve burgers all over the world and even though it is typically just a simple bap with some meat and a couple of toppings in the middle, they can vary massively in quality. Amsterdam has it’s own range of cracking burgers and we thought we’d put them in order and sort the very best ones into a list, so you can enjoy them one by one. We are drooling just sitting here looking at them. Washed down with a glass of coke, a milkshake or a nice cold beer you can’t go far wrong with any of these bad boys! Get stuck in!

10th. Brouwerij Troost

Top burgers with a large range of toppings (including an amazing veggie burger made from lentils). They put a lot of effort into their beer selection so some great pairings to be had. Lots of exciting burger toppings too for the more adventurous.

9th. Burger Zaken

Top spot in the middle of the red light district and you’ll love the fact that you can choose all your own toppings. The only thing that can go wrong is getting too exciting and making the burger too big.

8th. Burgermeester

This is one of the most exciting burger restaurants you’ll find anywhere in the world because the menu is always changing from month to month. All sorts of meats to choose from but the lamb is worth a spin and with multiple locations you are never going to be far away from one.

7th. Cannibale Royale

The unique design in here and the quirky American style food will win you over and have you coming back over and over again. Their beef burger that comes with a soft shell crab is a unique take on surf and turf and finger licking good.

6th. Bar Mick

This place has super traditional burgers without any of the crazy toppings and fuss that other places insist on. Served up with great beers on tap and a lively atmosphere this is all you want in a burger experience packed into two levels.

5th. The Butcher

Not only is the whole restaurant dedicated to burgers but they also deliver as well if you want a burger at home. Although the burgers are high end and top class the seating is all about being “fast casual” so you’ll be in and out in no time. Beautifully branded and the perfect thing to eat before a night out.

4th. Bar Huf

A proper BBQ joint in the heart of Amsterdam and they don’t mess around when it comes to burgers even though they do ribs and brisket as well. Burgers come served on a tray and a great place to come if you have a veggie eating with you as their eggplant burger which you can see below is nearly as good as the real thing.

3rd. Burger Bar

This is the home grown chain but they are a step above any of the American offerings out there. Packed all day and into the night the queue can be long but it is well worth it. With Wagyu beef and the ability to choose your own toppings you’ll get a melt in the mouth experience.

2nd. The Beef Chief

Having lived in Berlin for 4 years this Londoner brought epic burgers to Holland and started cooking them on the streets, at festivals and now through a catering company. You only have to look at the photos and his Facebook page to see the amazing taste dripping out of them and the passion and simplicity that goes into them.

1st. Cafe De Walvis

The burgers in here are absolutely out of this world and so big that you won’t be hungry for hours. They still fit in your mouth though which is essential for a good burger experience and the board that comes to the table with chips, sauce and a beer on the side is like a little piece of heaven. Come at lunch time for half price deals and you’ll never get bored because specials mean there is always something new. For extra perfection sit on the terrace eating one of these in the summer and life just doesn’t get any better.
