So we’ve rounded up five of the most fabulously festive and luxurious afternoon teas in Ireland for you to choose from for the perfect stocking filler or last minute get-together.
1. Festive Afternoon Tea at The Shelbourne
The ideal place to relax, catch up with friends and family and keep your all-important Christmas shopping list updated, The Shelbourne offers a seasonal Festive Afternoon Tea in the Lord Mayor’s Lounge right up until New Year’s Day.
Sparkling chandeliers, the warmth of the fire and delicate piano music playing in the background coupled with a selection of traditional favourites and specially created holiday treats on the Festive Afternoon Tea menu makes this the perfect Christmas shopping break.
Finger sandwiches include house-smoked Castletownbere salmon on Guinness bread with pickled cucumber and mustard emulsion, roast chicken and avocado in a poppy seed roll, cherry vine tomato with St. Tola goats’ cheese on pumpkin bread and classic egg mayonnaise with cress on white loaf, along with delicious warm buttermilk scones with clotted cream and Shelbourne preserves, and warm homemade ginger bread.
The pastry chef elves have also been busy creating a selection of sweet festive treats such as The Christmas Bauble (coconut mousse with rum soaked pineapple, mango passion jelly and vanilla cream), The Yule Log (hazelnut bavarois with spiced caramel and chocolate Chantilly cream), a Christmas Eton Mess and Santa’s Sleigh (red velvet cake with coconut and banana macaron).
Classic Festive Afternoon Tea is €59 per person and Champagne Festive Afternoon Tea is €75.
2. Festive Afternoon Tea at Mount Juliet Estate
At Mount Juliet Estate, afternoon tea is a daily ritual, served in one of the elegant Manor House rooms, each with its own particular character.
During the holiday season, Festive Afternoon tea at Mount Juliet Estate features mince pies, gingerbread men, gâteau opéra, cinnamon and orange Madeleines and mini warm apple & raspberry tart, and finger sandwiches including baked ham, grape mustard & apricot chutney and turkey and cranberry relish.
In the charming setting of Mount Juliet Estate’s Manor House, surrounded by fine paintings, antiques and china, some of which has been in the house for generations, and served with signature beverages from the menu of black and white teas and specialty coffees, the Festive Afternoon Tea at Mount Juliet Estate also includes a cranberry drink with a mulled wine foam. It costs €30 per person and runs until January 6th.
3. Festive Fusion Tea at Clontarf Castle Hotel
Curl up beside the crackling log fires and indulge in Festive Fusion Tea.
This experience features all the delights of Fusion Tea with a festive twist as tradition is fused with modern inspirations through the culinary arts to create the perfect afternoon treat.
Created and prepared by Executive Chef Stuart Heeney, from savoury delights including delicately spiced corn fed Cajun chicken breast topped with zesty lime mayonnaise, cool avocado and wild rocket on a brioche bun and 28-day dry aged rare sirloin served on grilled ciabatta, slow cooked sticky onion jam, watercress and umani enhancing pickled shimenji mushrooms tantalizing the tastebuds for starters, continue to indulge with orange and saffron crème brulee and individual black forest cake with wonderful chocolate sponge soaked in kirsch liquor, and lightly poached cherries and fresh cream.

4. Festive Afternoon Tea at The Cocktail Bar in the River Lee Hotel
This is a gorgeous seasonal treat to enjoy while soaking up the festive atmosphere in Cork city.
Begin the festive celebrations with a glass of bubbles and an array of dainty sandwiches. Sandwiches include Christmas favourites such as turkey and cranberry coronation sandwich, honey baked ham and mustard aioli on a brioche bun, smoked salmon on homemade brown bread with horseradish crème fraiche. It wouldn’t be afternoon tea without freshly baked scones, clotted cream and jam which are served with your choice of tea.
Finish with a choice of sweet treats including a Morello cherry gateaux, mocha cheesecake, lemon éclair and, of course, mini mince pies and iced Christmas cake.

5. Druids Glen’s Festive Afternoon Tea
This festive menu has been created to include some of our favourite festive flavours across the beautiful sandwiches, home-made cakes and delicious sweet treats. The menu includes Roast Turkey and Cranberry Sandwich, Prawn Cocktail on Brioche, Mini Fruit and Tea Loaf, Mince Pie Topped with Meringue, Sherry Trifle and White Chocolate and Ginger Shortbread.
It’s priced at €32 per person or guests can accompany with a glass of prosecco for €41 or champagne €50.
