There has been a surge in Airbnb bookings after it was revealed that people will be allowed to travel anywhere in Ireland come June 29th.
Having been cooped up at home for months, people are eager to get out and explore and it seems that everyone has had the same idea - rushing to book a staycation before the summer is out. One of the most popular options when booking holiday accommodation, Airbnb has gone up in people's estimations even further as it is perfectly suited to social distancing, allowing groups travelling together to keep to themselves as much as possible.
Making a number of changes to the way they operate, The Mirror reports that the company has stepped up its cleaning protocols.
Most of the new measures pertain to hosts as they are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of their property, however, it is also important for guests to know what steps are in place ahead of their visit.
A post on the Airbnb website states that guests are paying more attention to cleanliness than they ever did before. Asking the experts for advice on proper protocol, the recommended system includes a five-step process, room-by-room checklists and more.
Encouraging hosts to offer a self-check-in/check-out service where possible, this will allow for social distancing from the get-go. Hosts are also asked to ensure properties are well stocked with necessities such as hand soap, paper towels and toilet paper to cut down on the need for maintenance calls during guests' visits.
Hosts will be required to clean and disinfect the property after each visit, paying special attention to doorknobs, communal surfaces and appliances. You can read more about the new cleaning protocol here.
