Seven Of The Best Places To Grab Food In Marrakech

Alan Fisher

Oh, Marrakech you tagine loving son of a…

I absolutely fell in love with Marrakech. There is so much to do and even just walking around the city you will love it.

They also have some incredible places to sit down and grab some food or even just a drink.

Alcohol isn’t that easy to get your hands on. As in, you can’t just pop into a place for a pint, you have to know where you are going.

Some of the places I ate where high-end restaurants in nice areas but I also dived right into some of the best street-food styled places where the food was unbelievable.

If you’re planning on heading over, which I recommend you do, here were some of my favorite spots to eat and drink:

1) Cafe Tiznit

This is local food at it’s finest.

The Medina is normally hard to find authentic food as it is completely catering to tourists.

You’ll find this gem behind the Olive market and you will not find any tourists here. It is quite clearly there for the locals but the food is to die for.

The lamb and beef tangias are outrageous.

2) Nomad

You stylish little beauty.

This is the type of place that’s in the Medina which is for tourists. I don’t mean this is a bad way mind you.

Nomad was absolutely delicious. I got a half chicken with roast potatoes and it was unreal.

3) Le Salama

This place is located just off Jamaa El-Fna in the old town and is fantastic for a drink.

It is a restaurant and there were loads of people eating which did look great but we only stopped for a glass of wine.

It is definitely not the cheapest place to drink but it has a great setting sitting up on the rooftop, covered in hanging plants.

You can grab a hooka and belly dancers come out to perform around the tables.

4) Chez Bejgueni

Oh good god, this is probably to best street food you’ll eat in Marrakech.

It’s located right beside the club scene in the new city which is perfect for pre or post-night out grub.

This type of food is loads of different meats barbequed with seasonings with fries and bread to go with it. You also get salsa and spicy sauce to add to it.

Please do not be put off by street food and try this.

5) La Table Du Marche

This was probably the nicest dinner I had on my trip.

I just got beef fillet and fries but it was so tasty.

It’s in the area where all the fancy restaurants and the casinos are so you’ll definitely pass it at some stage.

6) Le Jardin

In general, Marrakech is pretty decent for all the insta-huns (myself included) but Le Jardin is up there with the best for it.

The food is really good but just look at the setting. At night, it gets completely lit up like a garden would.

7) Pepe Nero

Again, another spot that is well-known from Insta.

I might note that there are loads of insta restaurants in Marrakech but these are the best for food.

Also, if you want something pretty traditional, try to get your hands on some Khlii, It’s basically cured meat and it normally comes with eggs. It’s a must.
