This Japanese Wedding Venue Will Be Transformed Into An Irish Pub For Tomorrow’s Match

James Fenton

If there’s one thing you can say about us Irish it’s that we know how to support our teams at international tournaments. The antics at the 2016 Euros in France are still fresh in the memory and once again sports fans have traveled in numbers for the Rugby World Cup in Japan.

With all those thirsty Irish fans arriving in Fukuroi for tomorrow’s match against the hosts, someone’s going to have to be on hand to wet their whistles. Enter The House Aino, which is right next to Shizuoka Stadium ECOPA where the game will take place at 4.15pm local time.

According to Irish Examiner sports journalist Brendan O’Brien, the wedding venue is being transformed into an Irish pub for the occasion and you can only hope that they know what they are getting themselves in for.

Judging by The House Aino’s Instagram, it’s more used to formal shindigs that don’t involve The Fields Of Athenry being belted out every five minutes.

A nicer setting for a few pints before the game you could not find. Let’s just hope the traveling Irish contingent are celebrating afterwards as well.

Here in Ireland, the match kicks off at 8.15am and you can catch it on RTÉ 2.
