7 Quirky AirBnBs Around Europe That You Can Book For Your Summer Hols

mariemadden

It’s getting to that time of year when we all start thinking about summer holidays.

One of the most expensive parts of booking a break during the peak season is that hotel prices can be through the roof but AirBnB is becoming an increasingly popular way of getting a getaway on a budget.

It’s also a great opportunity to try something a little different, as you’ll find everything from castles to treehouses on there!

Here are five around Europe that are worth a look…

The Italian treehouse

This beautiful treehouse has incredible views and access to a swimming pool, making it the perfect spot for a romantic summer break. It’s located in the Monferrato region, where you’ll find top quality wines, and it’s an hour from Turin, Genoa and Milan.

Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and if you fancy a romantic getaway a deux, then check out this gorgeous apartment. It’s compact but has everything you need, including a fab mezzanine to catch some sun. And it’s just over €80 a night – which is v reasonable for Paris. If you fancy blowing the budget, you can have your brekkie in front of the Eiffel Tower with this one.

Lisbon is one of the trendiest spots in Europe for a city break at the moment and this apartment is worth the flight alone. The sea view from the terrace is absolutely incredible and the reviews speak for themselves.

This Amsterdam houseboat

Amsterdam is famous for its canals, so what better way to experience the city than staying in a houseboat? This one has a really cute interior, with a king size bed and a small office! The ship was built in 1914 and it used to be a cargo ship for grains, before being converted into a house after WWII.

This Barcelona apartment

We’re not going to lie – we picked this one solely because of the swing in the living room. BUT it’s also a really lovely apartment in an incredible location, close to Plaça de Catalunya.

This playful Budapest home

You can get serious bang for your buck in Budapest so this is on the more expensive end of the scale but it’s completely worth it. Why, you ask? Because there is a full-size slide in the middle of the apartment, allowing you to unleash your inner child. Priceless.

If you’re looking for a bargain though, check out this industrial-feel loft apartment for €31 a night.

This Riga flat with large terrace

We’re not that blessed when it comes to the weather for outdoor terraces here in Ireland but given that temperatures generally hover around the 17 degree mark in Riga during the summer, you can enjoy plenty dinners in the sun on this fab terrace. The apartment is €41 a night and is a 10 minute journey from Old Riga.
