A relatively new bar but one which has already established itself as one of Glasgow’s best live music venues. This is a nice roomy place to go for a few drinks and be wowed by a local or touring band.
7th. Chinaski’s
We all know Scotch whisky is renowned the world over, so it only makes sense that its largest city would have some amazing whisky bars. Chinaski’s, named after Charles Bukowski’s writing alter-ego, is a fun, hip place to expand your drinking knowledge and start a few lively conversations.
6th. Brel
A little oasis among the often hectic Ashton Lane. This place has been on the scene for almost two decades now and is still one of the best places to sample fine continental beers in a nice setting.

This place is one of your best bets for quality rock music and like-minded people. Rock solid bar really. They also have an excellent vegan menu too.
4th. Variety Bar
Variety Bar has a lovely retro design throughout with impressive attention to detail without being try hard. True to its name, you’ll find a variety of experiences here – from quiet pints to DJ nights to more exotic themes (Balkan music, anyone?)
3rd. Blackfriars
This is easily one of the best craft beer bars in the city and comes in high on this list for its knowledgeable and friendly staff, as well as its laid back atmosphere.
2nd. Nice N Sleazy
A veteran bar on the Glasgow scene. This spot continually draws some of the best and most alternative music acts Scotland has to offer. Nice N Sleazy is a must do if you’re visiting Glasgow.
1st. Stereo
This place has it all really: a vibrant café by day, good food served into the night, quality music, open til 3am. Stereo and its sister bar The Old Hairdressers are leading the way on the scene at the moment, showing other bars how it’s meant to be done.
