The city’s cafes play host to some of its most ambitious and interesting individuals, while also often serving important social functions like providing room space for local books groups, classes and all manners of civic meetings. With so many impressive cafes emerging on the scene, we thought we’d take the time to compile a list of the ten best places to get some work done. Part art gallery, part cafe, and renowned on both accounts, MiTo is an impressive new cafe in touch of the main university district. Pop in for a delicious, wholesome breakfast and back among the pieces of art up on the walls supplied by local artists.

9. Relax

Relax is a fun cafe/car with somewhat of a Hollywood theme, encompassing studio lights, italicised neon lettering and photos of classic movie icons. This is indeed a comfortable place, a real coffee lovers spot and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The only drawback here is the short supply of seats indoors, so for Wi-Fi use the best time to come here is on a weekday.

This is brilliant social venue cum cafe has a strong mission to work with the local community, providing areas for childrens’ digital literacy classes and fun days. The cafe area itself is nice and airy; come here during the day and you can work for hours undisturbed.

7. OSIR Cafe

OSIR is a rising cafe on the scene and has developed a nice niche as a cycle culture and live music location. It also regularly hosts fashion and arts and crafts markets. Camping out here for the day virtually ensures bumping into several different eccentrics. This spot is an important social space for the local neighbourhood and provides a nice chance to feel closer to the city’s exciting scene for non-natives.

Cofeina is ideally situated close to the university, meaning this cafe is a very popular spot among students. The decor additionally has a very vintage but youthful feel to it, with murals of the likes of Louis Armstrong and Johnny Cash are painted around the premises. The front terrace is an especially beautiful place to relax and work during the summer months.

This is a trendy upcycling cafe located within walking distance of The Saxon Garden/Ogród Saski local park. Like many of Warsaw’s best new cafes, Resort is a versatile, family-friendly venue that operates as a social space, cafe by day and bar by night.

4. Charlotte

Charlotte is a lovely French-themed cafe overlooking Plac Zbawiciela with its impressive rainbow structure. This is a classy spot with very affable and knowledgeable baristas. A great place for people watching and getting the creative juices going!

3. Chlodna 25

Sipping on a coffee in Chlodna 25 is a very relaxing way to spend a few hours. While this place used to transform into a hopping little bar each evening, it recently lost its alcohol licence (a fact lamented by many locals) due to pressure from its neighbours. This has however proven to be a boon for freelancers and browsers; Chlodna recently underwent a refurbishment to make it better equipped for Wi-Fi use.

2. Kafka

Kafka boasts some really beautiful furnishings, such as subtle lighting built into a bookshelf and a range of antlers up on the walls. This cafe appeals to analog and digital creatives, drawing in plenty of local literary folk as well as young media types. This also means its perfectly suited to taking a break from the laptop screen and dipping into some literature.

1. Cafe Zagadka

Cafe Zagadka (“Riddle Cafe”) apparently picked up its name because its owners were unsure what to name it. There’s not much mystery as to why this place tops our list however: strong, free Wi-Fi, delicious snacks, quality coffee, great location and a flair for design are all expertly combined to make this the best place in the city to stop in and get work done. Grab a perch on the cosy indoor balcony area overlooking the main floor and admire the giant disco ball in between bouts of work.
