It’s getting to that time of year – in the northern hemisphere anyway – where the days are short and the weather is pretty horrendous and with Christmas still a little far away there isn’t much to look forward to.

We thought we’d pick 21 sweet destinations to get you thinking about where and when you’re going to be traveling to next year. There’s something for everybody here – so all you have to do now is go ahead and book something!
1. Lofoten is a tiny village in Norway that is so beautiful you can’t even imagine it being real. Like something out of a movie
2. The Whitsunday Islands in Australia. No better place in the world to spend an afternoon lounging
3. The Grand Caynon. Carved naturally over millions of years and getting more magical looking by the day
4. This bath overlooking the water in the Maldives
5. Bora Bora in the Pacific Ocean where the sea looks like this all year around – and you can walk for miles in shallow water
6. Oh to be sitting in this pool in Santorini, Greece
7. Or taking it easy and watching the animals in the Maasai Mara in Kenya
8. If you’re into adventure and diving in particular – stunning and some dive spots are only reachable by helicopter
9. Iceland is like something from another planet, and with so few people living there you’ll have loads of space
10. The salt flats at Salar De Uyuni in Bolivia have no right being on this planet. Stunning
11. Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park with its completely natural and best seen at night
12. The Mendenhall Ice Caves in Alaska look like something out of Finding Nemo but are absolutely stunning and real
13. The Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland consists of 40,000 piece of interlocking stone. Remarkably beautiful
14. Chocolate Hills in the Philippines looks as if they have been placed there by some sort of giant
15. Ayers Rock – or Uluru as locals call it – is hard to explain, just sticking out in the middle of nowhere. A special feeling around it though
16. The stunning lakes at the top of Kelimutu on Flores Island, Indonesia
17. Cinque Terre in Italy has to be one of the most stunning and peaceful corners of the world. Like an oil painting
18. Koh Poda islands in Thailand which are the picture many people have in their head when thinking of paradise
19. Perito Morano Glacier, Argentina is like a real-life work of art. Carve a piece off and have it in your drink.
20. Yamdrok Lake in Tibet is one of the most striking bits of water in the world. Always a different amazing colour
21. Mount Roraima in Venezuela look like something from Lord Of The Rings – or a place for God himself to stand
