The Awesome Post Gym Protein Recovery Meal

Ingredients
  • Chicken breasts
  • Chickpeas
  • Sugar Snaps
  • Pomegranate
  • Garlic
  • Chili
  • Coriander
  • Cos Lettuce

If keeping fit is hard then eating the right food as well is even tougher. One thing that we are all told is that protein helps to re-build muscles and help the body recovery. You see some people eating those absolutely rotten protein shakes and all sorts of other concoctions but there is another way…our epic recovery meal. This doesn’t just look good and only take about 10 minutes to prep it also tastes fucking amazing and is packed full of protein and healthy stuff. Get stuck in!

Instructions

Step 1

The ingredients are pretty simple. You might not find the pomegranate in every single shop but they are well worth the effort as they are considered a super food.

Step 2

Chop the garlic and the chilli up. You can leave them rough enough. I leave the seeds in to give the dish some extra oomph.

Step 3

Pretty unusual to see salad in a cooked dish but it works so well here and cos is especially tough and stands up to the cooking. Chop the end of the bastards.

Step 4

Peel the leaves away and set them to one side. You can also grab the chickpeas out of the can. Make sure to strain all the juice off them. You want them as dry as possible.

Step 5

Grab the breasts out. Always the best bit.

Step 6

Slice them up nice and thin. Thinner the better so as they cook nice and quick.

Step 7

Lash on a big wok. Nice high heat. Fuck in the garlic and chilli. Keep them moving at all times so as they don’t burn.

Step 8

After about a minute lash in the chicken. Keep it moving and on a nice high heat. Shouldn’t take more than about 2/3 minutes to cook.

Step 9

While the chicken is cooking slice the pomegranate in half. It will look completely weird on the inside. Don’t panic!!

Step 10

When the chicken is cooked through fuck in the sugar snap peas. They are soft and only take about a minute to cook max.

Step 11

Lash in a good handful of the peas. These bad boys are rammed full of protein.

Step 12

While that is cooking up chop up the coriander, Stalks and all. Leave it a bit rustic as well. No need to be super neat for this dish.

Step 13

At the very end lash in the lettuce. This is going to cook for about 45 seconds max. You just want to quickly wilt it without it going to shit.

Step 14

Lash in the coriander and take it off the heat ready to serve straight away.

Step 15

Getting the little seeds out is pretty tricky. You’ll need a little spoon to prize the bastards out and they’ll be messy but they are well worth it. Crunchy and delicious

Pile it all up and pat yourself on the back for something that looks amazing, tastes even better and which is super healthy and good for you. Win win win.

Rarely does food taste this good and have so many health benefits. When I read about all the latest crash diets and gym trends I pull my hair out and wish people just cooked simple nutritious food like this. The protein in here will go straight to work and help build the body back up so as you are ready to go again as soon as possible with the next bit of training. Go on give it a lash and you’ll be amazed at the taste!
