The long-awaited Bill & Ted 3 is officially in the works and is due out next year.
Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves, who played Bill and Ted respectively in the first two films, announced the news in a new video along with a caption that reads, ‘The world is about to get a lot more excellent. Watch this special announcement from your two favourite dudes! 8.21.20.’
Bill & Ted 3: Face The Music is expected to start shooting sometime this summer and its planned release date is August 21, 2020 - more than 30 years after the first Bill & Ted film came out.
The pair announced in the video, “Hi, I’m Alex Winter and I’m Keanu Reeves and together we are wild stallions.
“We are here at the Hollywood Bowl, where we’ll never play.
“We are here to announce something. We want to say thank you to you, the fans, because it looks like we might actually, hopefully, make a movie this summer.
“Bill & Ted 3: Face The Music. And it is all because of you guys and so we owe you a huge debt of gratitude and we wanted to say thank you. And be excellent.”

Orion Pictures also released a plot synopsis, revealing that the film will pick up with the characters as middle-aged men.
It says, ‘Yet to fulfil their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe.
‘Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.’
A third film has been talked about for years now but this is the first time any official plans have been confirmed.
Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure was released in 1989 and was followed by a sequel in 1991, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey.
