Saturday to bring ‘good sunny spells’ according to Met Éireann

Sarah Finnan

Giving us all a little hope that the good weather could be making a comeback, Met Éireann has said that Saturday will bring “good sunny spells”… it’s not much, but we’ll take it.

Here’s what’s on the cards for the next few days.

According to forecasters – “tomorrow will be another day of heavy and blustery showers” bringing with it “a continued risk of hail and isolated thunderstorms”. Expected to turn wintry at times, sunny spells will give way to cloudier conditions and evening showers will merge to longer spells of rain.

Showers are likely to continue overnight, however, they will give way to good sunny spells on Saturday morning. Showers will become “mostly confined to the west and north” with highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees.

Saturday night is predicted to be “chilly” with the possibility of frost while Sunday will be mostly cloudy with some rain and drizzle turning heavy at times. Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees.

Giving us just enough to hold out hope that next week will be better, Met Éireann has said that “milder conditions” are on the way. Starting off dry and cloudy for the most part conditions are expected to remain “largely dry” into Tuesday with highest temperatures to reach the “low to mid-teens”. Summer, that you?! I may be getting ahead of myself but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.
