Firehouse Bakery

One of the finest bakeries in all of Wicklow, Firehouse Bakery is well-known to locals and blow-ins alike. An award-winning bakery and café in Delgany, they run on the motto “eat, knead, sleep, repeat” and their sourdough is testament to this.

Due to open a brand new brick and mortar location in Wicklow town, staff at Firehouse Bakery have just provided an update on just when we can expect them… and it’s “soon very soon!” so get the butter and jam ready.

“We are one step closer. Signage has just gone up on our new Wicklow town bakery and cafe. @firehousewicklow On Wednesday November 18th our doors will officially open!”

Saying that Covid has done everything to try to stop them, owners are determined to open even if they have had to put some of their plans on hold for the time being. Deciding to open as a pop-up bakery and Christmas grocer until the new year, their hopes are that they will be able to relaunch in the new year as originally planned.

“We will have breads, pastries, coffee, seasonal Irish veg, Artisan cheese and cured meats which will be sliced to order, you can even order your Christmas cheese board.

“We have built a wood fired oven which @gavnolan will be lighting up to offer take away sourdough pizzas. @taylorclareanne will be bringing some of her amazing creations to the space. We will have local honey and preserves. Our Christmas grocer will be a celebration of Irish produce and @shauna_lk will be on hand to look after you.

“We will have lots of Christmas gift ideas as we encourage you to #supportlocal including @slated.ie and not to mention @bearcreation to be fair he did help build half the place.”

Covering all bases, they’ll even have Christmas trees up for sale from December along with a specially curated hot chocolate menu to help “get you in the festive mood”.

Are you (b)ready?!
