People are celebrating their ‘Cavanness’ in honour of the first-ever global ‘Cavan Day”

Cavan Day

Today is Cavan Day don’t ya know? The first inaugural event, the initiative was organised as a means to celebrate the ‘global Cavan Family, its people, its diaspora and everyone who shares an affinity with the county’.

Encouraging the public to throw on their best blue and white geansaí, people have been posting photos and messages online in honour of the occasion – even managing to get the hashtag ‘Cavan Day’ trending on Twitter. Fair play to yiz lads and lassies.

Getting involved in the festivities, owners at The Boar’s Head pub in Dublin shared a photo of the pub’s exterior writing “always proud”. Dublin based but Cavan run… ‘a great oasis of Cavanness’ according to some.

Other events organised as part of the big day include a special virtual show that will be broadcast live on Facebook and YouTube at 5pm this afternoon. Featuring musical performances from some of the county’s much-loved musicians, there will also be interviews with some of the Breffni County’s best-known figures from the world of sport, arts, food, and business.

One question… when’s Longford day? Just so I have the county colours ready.
