A Cork restaurant has started a hot wing challenge that has become so popular that it’s no longer accepting walk-in entrants.

Coqbull, on Cork’s French Church Street, started the hot wing challenge on Wednesday and the response has been overwhelming.

The challenge basically boils down to entrants attempting to eat 12 wings, doused in Coqbull’s hot sauce, in 12 minutes.

The wings cost €12 if you do not finish the platter but if you manage to complete the challenge, you won’t have to pay a penny.

The first person to attempt the challenge was none other than hip-hop artist Ganiyu TLG, who came prepared for the task ahead with protective eye-wear and surgical gloves.

There has been so much demand from confident hot wings lovers since the challenge launched earlier this week that you now have to book your place in advance by calling Coqbull on 021-4278444.

You can also expect your empty plate to be examined because it’s not as simple as nibbling some of the sauce away. You have to eat the meat until the wings are clean.

The challenge runs for two weeks and will come to an end on March 11.

Best of luck and let us know how you got on.
