A popular fixture on MacCurtain Street, staff at White Rabbit Bar & BBQ have said that they are “blown away” by public support after posting about no show bookings earlier in the week.

Described as “Cork’s original BBQ joint”, White Rabbit Bar & BBQ reopened to the public on July 1st. Excited to welcome customers back after months of uncertainty, the team was hard at work ahead of the big day to ensure that everything ran smoothly.

Showing off a brand new look, all went well on opening night, however, as with other business around Ireland, the restaurant reported a number of no show bookings – with owners Steve and Sara taking to social media on Friday night to express their disappointment.

“We took 6 bookings today over the phone and didn’t take a deposit as we were quite busy at the time. To the 4 tables that didn’t show and couldn’t be bothered calling – shame on you!!

You deprived others of the opportunity to visit and you deprived a small family business of badly needed turnover as we try to get back on our feet.”

Saying that they are not usually ones to vent online in such a manner, the team has experienced an outpouring of love since posting the message taking to Facebook once again to add that they are “blown away by the reaction”.

“Blown away by the reaction here Guys. I wouldn’t normally vent like that on social media but it’s so infuriating when the whole crew are trying so hard. Those of you enquiring about bookings – we’ll be in touch today. Thanks again. It means a lot.”

Restaurants across the country have been reporting similar issues with a number of Dublin city centre venues urging people to simply cancel bookings ahead of time.
