One of Cork’s most popular Chinese restaurants reopens after seven weeks

For some hungry Corkonians, it must have seemed like Pearl River would never open again.

Pearl River, the popular Chinese restaurant on Cork’s Princes Street, suddenly closed last month and customers were initially given no reason for the unexpected closure.

“Closed until further notice,” read a sign on the inside of the restaurant’s door at the beginning of the second week of September.

Customers’ concerns about the possibility of Pearl River closing for good were eased when that sign was replaced by one a week later which read: “Closed for stock-taking and annual leave!”

Still, the weeks passed and people remained none the wiser regarding a reopening date.

That is, until earlier this week.

A third sign (that we know of) appeared in the Pearl River window in recent days which assured fans of the beloved Chinese restaurant that it would reopen on Tuesday, October 29, at 4.30pm.

Panic over, Cork folks. You can start relying on Pearl River for your fix of chicken curry again.

It’s open for business!
