We all like to think of ourselves as rational people but, even though we may not like to admit it, we’ve all had moments where we questioned whether the supernatural truly exists.
Ireland is no stranger to tales of the macabre, with blood-curdling legends of surrounding the likes of the Hell Fire Club at Montpelier Hill, the Black Cat of Kilkakee House, and the White Lady of Kinsale.
It’s no surprise that Dracula, perhaps the world’s favourite monster story, came from the mind of an Irishman.
With Ireland being the size it is, the chances are that eerie occurrences may have befallen you or someone you know at some point.
These are the stories we’re dying to hear.
Since Halloween is nearly upon us, we want to know the scariest stories the people of Ireland have to offer and we’ll be letting our audience vote on the scariest — with the winner bagging a two-night break for two at the recently refurbished Castleknock Hotel, including breakfast on both mornings and dinner on one evening at their new Earth & Vine restaurant.
Set upon manicured grounds on the doorstep of Dublin, the award-winning four-star hotel is a handy base to discover all the delights of the city including Phoenix Park, Dublin Zoo and the National Aquatic Centre. Located just outside Castleknock village, Castleknock Hotel is just 15 minutes from Dublin city centre and 20 minutes from the airport, with easy access to the M50, yet it feels like a world away from the bustle of the city with its tranquil countryside setting.
So that’s one terrific prize in exchange for a terrifying tale — seems like fair trade to us.
But you’ll have to be quick!
