Live At The Marquee will take a one-year hiatus – returning next year in time for summer 2021.

Organisers have confirmed that though Live At The Marquee has been cancelled this year, a number of gigs associated with the festival will be rescheduled for next summer.

This comes in the wake of a government announcement banning all mass gatherings involving 5,000 people or more in Ireland. Put in place until August 31st at the earliest, the measures aim to combat the Covid-19 outbreak.

There were concerns over the future of the festival, with locals worried that the event wouldn’t be rescheduled given that this year was due to be its final run. However, a statement released earlier today updated festival-goers on the matter – assuring them that several of the events will be postponed until 2021 instead.

A message posted to the official festival Instagram account reads:

“We are currently working to reschedule Live At The Marquee to 2021, we will remain in The Docklands in Cork next summer, home of the Marquee.”

Several of the shows have already been rescheduled for 2021, including the following (new dates listed):

  • The Coronas – 28 May 2021
  • The 2 Johnnies Podcast – 29 May 2021
  • Sinéad O’Connor – 20 June 2021
  • John Bishop – 14 June 2021
  • Christy Moore – 26 June 2021
  • Crowded House – 28 June 2021

Customers are advised that original tickets for the rescheduled shows will still be valid for the 2021 dates.

Other acts set to take to the stage this year include the likes of White Flag singer Dido, Motown Diva Diana Ross, Sir Tom Jones and the Pet Shop Boys, however organisers remain hopeful that they’ll still be able to reschedule some of the other performances for next summer. We’ll be sure to update you as announcements are made.
