‘Charming and so atmospheric’ – Cork ‘buzzing with people’ over Bank Holiday weekend

Replying to a tweet shared by a Dublin city restaurant, one Twitter user down in Cork said that the Rebel County is “buzzing with people”.

“It’s crazy. I’m in Cork city right now and it is buzzing with people. The city centre is so busy with people out and about. Some streets have been pedestrianised and the seats outside are like gold dust. This was about two hours ago and it’s still packed!”

Some commented that the photo reminded them of being abroad.

“This picture reminds me of being abroad, strolling through the streets of the city & everyone out eating/drinking/having coffee/meeting up with friends till late in the evening. Well done Cork. Showing Dublin up.”

Adding that the new set up is “charming and so atmospheric”, it’s hoped that a similar idea will be adopted by other towns/counties around Ireland.

Another shared a photo Clonakilty in West Cork where the local brass band took to the streets to entertain passersby.

Helping to add vibrancy back to the town, the music was much appreciated by locals and all those visiting the area for the weekend.
