A young girl from West Cork has been praised for her generosity after she donated her confirmation money to a local hospital.

Libby Fallon-Faley was supposed to make her confirmation last week but due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, the ceremony was postponed.

Libby still received confirmation money from family and friends but in what was a wonderfully generous gesture, the 11-year-old decided to donate the money to Bandon Community Hospital.

Local Gardai assisted in delivering the kind gift to the hospital over the weekend.

A statement on the Garda Siochana – Cork, Kerry & Limerick Facebook page reads: “Libby Fallon-Faley is 11 years old, and lives in Kilbrittain. She was due to make her Confirmation on Monday.

“It was postponed due to Covid-19. Libby wanted to donate the money she received as Confirmation gifts to Bandon Community Hospital. Libby is a pupil at Kilbrittain National School.

“Attached is a picture of Libby handing the gift to Garda Jacinta O Leary who along with Garda John O Neill from Bandon Garda Station delivered the gift to Director of Nursing Breda O Donovan at Bandon Community Hospital.

“Thanks very much to Libby for this wonderful gesture.”
