Iyer’s Café in Cork closing ‘to rest, recuperate and recalibrate’

This isn’t goodbye, it’s just see you later.

Family-run South Indian café Iyer’s, based on Pope’s Quay in Cork, is taking a well deserved break from the business. After a decade of non-stop work, the café took to Instagram to share the news with their followers that they would be “pressing pause to rest, recuperate and recalibrate.” They make no reference to when they will reopen, only that they will, “see you all soon.”

Iyer’s café thanked the people of Cork, and everyone else who has supported them over their last ten years of being open. The café is an 100% vegetarian spot that does authentic dosas, amongst other Indian delicacies.

Iyer’s will certainly be missed; their Twitter announcement alone received more than a dozen replies from people who love the café. They also won a place on the Eater’s Places to Eat in 2020 list, which you can check out HERE. Iyer’s also received two nominations from the Irish Restaurant Awards this year, Best World Cuisine in Cork, as well as Best Restaurant.

Along with all the Cork locals, we hope that this is not the end for Iyer’s, and that they will reopen on Pope Quay sooner rather than later.
