Mothercare in Cork’s Mahon Point offering up to 70 per cent off toys until Sunday

For those looking to get some cheap Christmas shopping done this week, look no further than Mothercare in Cork.

Mahon Point‘s Mothercare store has announced a massive sale, with up to 70 per cent off some toys over the coming days.

The sale ends on Sunday so customers will have to be quick if they’re to get their hands on bargain gifts ahead of the festive season.

The sale apparently has nothing to do with the unfortunate news that Mothercare in the United Kingdom had gone into administration this week, resulting in the loss of jobs and closure of stores.

But in Ireland, where Mothercare has 14 stores, it is a separate business entity and will not be affected by the collapse of the UK retailer.

A statement on the Irish website reads: “Mothercare Ireland remains a separate, family owned business and will remain unaffected by this unfortunate news.

“We employ over 250 staff directly in our 14 stores, head office and warehouse, and support hundreds more indirectly, as well as providing support for many Irish brands and businesses and we will continue to do so. All Irish stores continue to trade as normal and will host in store events, such as the monthly Expectant Parent workshops.”
