Open Auditions being held in Cork this month for Brian Friel play!

Fiona Frawley

Do you live in Cork and fancy yourself as the next Ian McKellen?

Well now’s your time to shine, as there are auditions being held for Brian Friel’s Philadelphia, Here I Come! this day next week!

Patrick Talbot Productions are holding open auditions for their forthcoming production of the beloved Brian Friel play next Wednesday the 25th from 11am at Cork Opera House, and are looking to cast the roles of Ned, Tom, and Joe (that’s Gar’s group of mates if you remember the play from LC comparative study). The playing age is early to mid-twenties.

Philadelphia, Here I Come! is the story of Gar O’Donnell, a young lad disillusioned with his life in rural 1960s Ireland who makes the decision to emigrate to America. Over the course of his final day and night in the small town of Ballybeg, he wrestles with the pain of leaving and wonders whether he can completely reinvent himself beyond in Philadelphia.
