Six Incredible Road Trips You Should Take In Ulster This Summer

Nothing says summer like cramming your best mates into a car that’s hotter than Satan’s armpits and heading off on a long journey filled with silly Snapchat posts and fighting over who used the last tea bag.

So, here are the five most incredible road trips to take in Ulster.

1. Fanad Peninsula Scenic Drive

This 72km drive starts in Rathmullan and takes you along to the golden coasts and grassy sand dunes of Donegal.

2. Northern Headlands Touring Route – 1 Day

This 1-day trip starts in Donegal Town and finishes in Ardara, this trip takes you to Malin head and if you’re lucky enough you might see the Northern lights from this point.

3. Northern Headlands Touring Route – 2 Day

This trip starts in Buncrana and finishes in Dunfanaghy and is broken into 6 stages, each stage has something interesting to do whether it’s exploring the stone fort of Grianán an Áileach or going to the seaside village of Rathmullan.

 

4. Northern Headlands – 3 Day

Start your adventure in Rossnowlagh by visiting the beach and maybe go for a surf on the famous Donegal shore and then drive along the coast to Ardara, while making plenty of stops to see all that this route has to offer, and then make a visit to John Molloy’s Woollen Mills to see the production of Irish clothes.

 

5. Northern Headlands Touring Route – 5 Day

This 5-day adventure starts in Buncara and finishes again in Ardara, this trip is full of scenic nature views as well as having some history involved with stops such as Fort Dunree Military Museum and Doagh Famine Village.

 

6. Northern Ireland – 5 Day

This 5-day journey is filled with a mix of history, the great outdoors and a busy city. The trip starts in Belfast and goes full circle back to Belfast, the journey includes exciting stops like Armagh Planetarium and the Fermanagh Lakelands.
