Cork Farmer Opts To Send Cattle To Cow Sanctuary Rather Than Slaughterhouse

katedemolder

A Cork dairy farmer has made news recently following his compassionate and life-changing decision to send a herd of his own cattle to a Cow Sanctuary in the UK rather than to a nearby slaughter house.

The sanctuary in question, the Hillside Animal Sanctuary, will now take in the cattle, who will live out the rest of their days in the picturesque cattle farm instead of being bred for their meat.

Irish musician Sharon Shannon recently visited the generous farmer – who wishes to remain anonymous – after she learned of his beautiful decision.

A GoFundMe page has since been set up to transport and provide health checks for similar herds to travel to sanctuary in the UK.

The Cork farmer had this to say about the heroic move:

“After all these years, they deserve more from me and they are very bonded as a herd. I can retire with peace of mind now, knowing they will live out their days together.”

No, we’re not crying – you’re crying.
