This Amazing New Burrito Joint Opens In Cork Today

When it comes to favourite foods, Mexican is definitely top of the list so we are very excited about the opening of a brand new spot in Cork today.

You may already have heard about Zambrero, which opened in Dublin last year and has been taking the city by storm with its clean Mexican-style dishes.

We like to think of it as ‘burritos without the guilt’. The dream.

The new Cork branch opens for lunch today out in Dennehy’s Cross, just beside UCC, and the best news is that for the whole day they’ll be doing 2-for-1 food! So, you can get in and sample it for half price.

Expect the queues to be pretty long!

Zambrero is spearheaded by former Leinster rugby star Darragh Fanning, who discovered the concept while playing rugby in Australia with former St Mary’s Dublin First 15 Coach Shaun McCarthy, also a key partner in Zambrero’s expansion into the Irish market.

The chain has over 150 restaurants in Australia and while this is only the second location in Ireland to date, there are plans for many more across the country and in the UK.

There are a couple of things that we love about the Dublin one, which will also feature in Cork.

First is the black rice, which is much healthier than normal rice and is even more healthy than brown. The magic is that it actually tastes even better.

The second is the tacos. The double soft shell/ hard shell tacos are so good that once you get hooked on them, you might not even go back to burritos. And that’s saying something!

It’s open today from lunch time so make sure to head down and check it out!
