Free fries in Galway tomorrow if your name is William or Kate

Free food for William and Kate

Talk about the royal treatment, eh?

Irish people have a love affair with Supermac’s, Galwegians in particular – the first Supermac’s restaurant was in Galway after all.

Opened in Ballinasloe back in 1978, our love for the fast-food chain has only grown stronger over time and it’s now as much a part of Irish culture as pints, spuds and Tuesday night bingo are.

In fact, the Eyre Square Supermac’s is arguably one of Galway’s most recognisable landmarks and I think it’s fair to say that its reputation precedes it… we’ve all heard tell of the rag week antics outside Smac’s (only loyal patrons call it this).

The City of Tribes is busy prepping for the royal visit later this week and we have no doubts that Will and Kate are being caught up on all things Supermac’s ahead of their trip out west.

Clearly hoping to lure them in for some grub, Supermac’s Eyre Square has decided to honour the Duke and Duchess by giving anyone named William or Kate free chips this Thursday.

Not only for those in line for the throne though as even laymen can avail of the offer, so long as your name is some variation of the above (other acceptable versions include Catherine, Will etc.).

Just bring your ID and you’ll bag yourself a free, regular portion of dressed fries. Patrons can avail of the offer in all Galway City restaurants until 4pm – those being Cross Street, Salthill, Headford Road, Tuam Road, Merlin Park and of course Eyre Square.

We reckon that’s an offer Will and Kate won’t be able to refuse.
