5 Reasons You MUST Attend Galway Food Festival This Easter Weekend

Alana Laverty

It’s that time of the year again.

Galway Food Festival season.

The best time of the year, some might say?

Five days of workshops, masterclasses, demos, coffees, dancing, music, cocktails and plenty of food, glorious food.

It all kicks off this Thursday, April 13 and runs until Monday, 17.

The festival was born six years ago and has played significant role in highlighting the importance of good food provenance and food education throughout Galway and along the Wild Atlantic Way ever since.

The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Food and Community’, which anyone from Galway will relate to in a big way.

Here are five events from the five days that caught our eye.

1. Poitín Masterclass

Our favourite Irish poitín, Micil, + our favourite place for a bite in Galway (Bitelcub, duh) are teaming up to host an evening to remember on Saturday from 8pm.

For just a tenner you can attend this masterclass including a demo and history of poitín by Padraic O’Griallais of Micil Poitín and also a cocktail!

Text 087 4034683 to book your spot.

2. Cava on the Corrib

The lovely folks from Cava will take you on a historical boat tour on the Corrib Princess.

Not only will you be surrounded by some of the best views in Galway over the course of two hours, but you’ll also get to enjoy a Spanish BBQ on board!

Tickets from €22.50

3. Good Friday Fancy Dress Party

McCambridge’s are taking a step back into the 1800s this Good Friday.

Their Sibín fancy dress party will consist of a seven course tasting menu that’ll bring you on a journey along the Wild Atlantic Way.

Poitín + dancing in Galway? A night that will forever be remembered.

Tickets €70.

4. A Taste of Brasserie on the Corner

Brasserie’s newly-appointed Head Chef has designed a specially-selected five course meal which will provide an exclusive taster of their new spring menu.

Each course will be complimented by paired wines and the whole evening can be enjoyed for €70.

A great way to kick off the Food Festy.
