"We have decided to hibernate Loam for the winter."

  Sad news for Galway locals. Michelin star restaurant Loam have made the early decision to close for the autumn and winter months. In a long Instagram post they stated that:

"Facing such uncertainty this Winter and after much deliberation we have decided to close Loam for the Winter season. It’s been a great Spring and Summer season, better than we could have imagined really, however we are acutely feeling the effects of staff shortages and spiralling costs as is widespread across the industry."

Instead, Loam will put all their resources into sister restaurant Éan; of the decision they said, "This has not been an easy decision by any means but we believe it is the correct one for us right now." https://www.instagram.com/p/ChwmZl2MyjJ/ Although Loam won't be open to the general public, they will still host a few private functions and events over the winter period; you can keep up with them on their socials. Last day for trade ahead of their hibernation period will be Sunday 10th September. Those with reservations past this date will hear from Loam soon if they have not already. Loam launched in November 2014 and focuses on modern and ambitious cooking rooted in tradition. In geology terms, loam means rich and fertile, and the restaurant work hard to collaborate with farmers to produce dishes from the freshest of ingredients. They have one Michelin star for their high quality cooking, and one Michelin Green star for gastronomy and sustainability. We're sorry to hear that Loam will close for winter, but look forward to seeing them back in action when spring comes around.
