Pálás Cinema has confirmed its reopening date

Sarah Finnan

The team at Pálás Cinema, Galway’s resident arthouse cinema, will have confirmed the good news that they’ll reopen to the public next Monday.

Good news for Galwegians, as Pálás Cinema has confirmed they’ll be back in business from next week – reopening to the public over four months after they were forced to close their doors due to Covid-19. Watching movies at home is nice and all, but cinema popcorn… need I say more?

Saying that they “can’t wait to welcome audiences back”, the venue team has been busy working behind the scenes to ensure customer and staff safety, comfort and enjoyment are all taken care of. Rumour has it the programming team have been hard at work scheduling a mix of old-school classics and new releases to make sure everyone is kept happy on their first trip back. Also promising a few surprises along the way…

Amongst the movies on offer, you’ll find Saint Frances, 40th-anniversary screenings of The Empire Strikes Back and the black and white edition of Bong Joon Ho’s masterpiece Parasite (would highly recommend the latter if you have yet to see it).

There will also be a number of classic hits running including Casablanca, Roman Holiday, Call Me By Your Name and Mean Girls and stay tuned for a series of special guest Q&As with actors the likes of Normal People and Dating Amber star Fionn O’Shea.

Pálás Kitchen & Bar will also reopen as of Monday, serving up their full range of food, drinks and those all-important cinema snacks.

The good news don’t stop there either as Dubliners will be happy to hear that their sister cinema, the Light House, will also reopen on Monday. Get yer coats lads, we’re going to the pictures.
