The imam of a Galway mosque has tweeted pictures of damage to the building after it came under attack yesterday evening.
Ibrahim Ahmed Noonan told the Irish Times that up to 100 people were left terrified after rocks smashed through the windows at the Masjid Maryam Mosque during prayer hour.
Noonan feels that the attack is linked to the recent terrorist attacks in London and Manchester as he explained:
“The rocks came smashing through the windows and could have seriously injured on of my members. We have had attacks in the past, but I feel this is a deliberate attack. We can tell that this is a deliberate attack based on the tragic events in London and Manchester in recent weeks.”
Noonan pointed out that the vicious and unprovoked attack left men, women and children terrified.
Pictures of the shocking results of the incident can be seen below.
