Six Of The Best Brunch Spots In The City Of Tribes

Sarah Finnan

Sunday morning can only mean one thing…brunch. Obviously.

An amalgamation of breakfast and lunch; brunch encompasses all that is good in the world, an excuse to eat two meals in one. Some may argue that the market is saturated, but I’m not in agreement. There can never be too many places to have brunch. Never.

For many, Sunday brunch is ritualistic and who are we to break tradition? Fortunately for you, brunch and coffee (and food in general) are my niche so text your pals, start from the top and make your way through six of my favourite breakfast haunts in the city of Tribes.

Dela

Mixing prosecco with orange juice to justify drinking before noon? Genius. Now I’m not suggesting that Dela are the masterminds behind mimosas, but they are definitely a staple of any breakfast outing here. Pair that with their eggs benedict, and you have a recipe for success (pun very much intended).

Corrib House Tea Rooms

Known to only the elite few (and of course all those I’ve raved about this place to), the Corrib House Tea Rooms serve up the finest pancakes in Galway. Thick, fluffy, goodness in each bite…you won’t be disappointed.

Ard Bia at Nimmos

Ard Bia tends to be the restaurant of choice for most when it comes to brunch in Galway. Translating to ‘high food’, you’re guaranteed quality. Another solid choice for pancakes, especially if you have a sweet tooth as theirs are served with a heavenly whipped mascarpone dip. Sit outside if the weather is good and enjoy watching the world go by.

Caprice

Relatively new on the scene, the interior looks like it came straight from the latest issue of House & Garden; bright, airy and extremely chic. Boasting an extensive breakfast/brunch menu, Caprice is a serious contender for best coffee in Galway.

56 Central

With happiness as their ethos, this place oozes positivity and good vibes. Perched right in the action on Shop Street, this is a popular choice with the more health conscious amongst us. Their sister café 37 West is also just as good.

Cupán Tae

Breakfast foods are by far the superior food group (in my opinion at least), and Cupán Tae do breakfast foods to perfection. Stepping inside is like stepping inside your granny’s house in the best possible way. Ideal location to reignite your love affair with tea.

Whatever did we do before brunch? I for one, don’t care to remember.
