WATCH: Cheeky Michael D Lifts The League Trophy For Galway

Who says the President has to be impartial?

Michael D. Higgins, while born in Limerick, has never made any secret of his Galway allegiances. He attended university at UCG and has previously served as President of Galway United Football Club. 

Yesterday, having attended the Tribesmen’s absolute thrashing of Tipperary in the National Hurling League final, he was due to present the trophy to captain David Burke but after some encouragement, the prez decided to give a helping hand himself.

It’s fair to say Higgins seemed a bit reluctant to share the limelight at first but just like the rest of us do on a regular basis, he bowed to peer pressure in the end.
