WATCH: Connemara Was Ablaze Last Night With Raging Gorse Fires

Major gorse fires broke out in Connemara yesterday evening and continued to burn overnight. 

The fire erupted in between Casla and Baile na hAbhann near Ros a Mhíl and emergency fire services are reported to have spent over 12 hours battling the blaze. 

The final fire engine left the scene before 8am this morning. 

According to the Connacht Tribune, there were no injuries nor any threat or damage to neighbouring property in the area however approximately 900 homes were without power for an extensive period.
