We’re well aware of the beauty of the Kingdom of Kerry and have documented our love for the county on numerous occasions in the past – like here, for instance.
Well, it now seems that the gospel has spread as travel guidebook and website Rough Guides has included one of Kerry’s most stunning areas in its list of Regions On Our Radar.
The MacGillycuddy’s Reeks area has always been a favourite for tourists and natives alike and it has been placed at number three in the list, behind Yúnnán in China and Iberá Wetlands in Argentina.
Writing about the area, Rough Guides says:

“The literal highlight is Ireland’s tallest mountain, Carrauntoohil. At 1,038.6 metres (3,407 ft), reaching the peak is an achievable day trek for anyone of reasonable fitness. Less strenuous walks take in sheep-dotted moorland or a deserted Atlantic beach. Two Blue Flag beaches at Inch and Rossbeigh tempt family picnickers, while surfers hit the waves rolling in off the Atlantic. Or you might enjoy taking a kayak or canoe around vast Caragh Lake to explore its beaches and scenic coves.”
