“This is not a goodbye, it’s a see you later.”

The Old Yard in Kildare has made the decision to press pause on the business, and will cease trading from the 28th January 2023. The home store has gained a loyal customer base in the last ten years, and this will be disappointing news to all their locals.

The Old Yard is so much more than just a home and garden store. In the decade it’s been open, they have expanded, now running a café and bakery alongside the lifestyle shop. It’s also become an ideal venue for all sorts of occasions in recent years, including plays, fairs, recitals, feast nights, and even the odd wedding.

In a candid Instagram post, The Old Yard explained they are closing to spend more time with family. They took the time to thank everyone who has supported them, including their “wonderful, hard working, loyal, friendly staff” as well as their suppliers and of course their customers.

While they make no mention of a timeline, The Old Yard finished their announcement by saying, “this is not a goodbye, it’s a see you later & we look forward to reopening our businesses in the future.” So here’s hoping we will see them again once they’ve enjoyed some deserved time off.

Make sure to pop in before the 28th January for one last gander around the shop; they open Thursday to Saturday from 11am to 4pm, and do Saturday Pizzas from 1pm to 6pm.
