Ashford Castle in Mayo has been voted one of the best hotels in the world but it's taken things to another level with the launch of its €3,000-a-night private getaway cottage.

This is part of a huge renovation project that has been ongoing for the last couple of years and, in their own words...

If you are looking to get away for a romantic escape, or simply to spend some time alone with the person who matters to you, Hideaway Cottage is the perfect private retreat. The old world meets the new as the protected site of the old boathouse has been fully modernised while keeping true to its Irish heritage.

Surrounded by woodland with a 180-degree view over the lake, the secluded cottage is far away from the hectic pace of modern life and is gated for complete privacy. The Hideaway Cottage has all of the services of the Castle and your personal Hideaway Assistant is just a phone call away to accommodate all of your needs.

This is clearly targeted at the super wealthy because staying for a week in this place would come in at just over €20,000 although you would have full access to everything the hotel offers and the most incredible romantic bolthole for you and a partner.

If you have that sort of spare change knocking around the cottage is available to rent now with all info here. Some spot!
