Looks like they really will have their own Las Vegas in the Hills of Donegal.

A host of Hollywood stars including Pierce Brosnan, Helena Bonham Carter and Gabriel Byrne are Donegal-bound, as new film Four Letters of Love is scheduled to start filming there this month.

Directed by Polly Steele, the film is set to begin shooting in February in Northern Ireland before moving to the Dungloe area of west Donegal, Donegal Daily has reported.

Based on the novel of the same name by Niall Williams, the film is a ‘lyrical love story’ about two strangers who are destined to meet. The story is set in Dublin and on an island off the west coast of Ireland.

The film will also star Fionn O’Shea (Normal People, Dating Amber) and Ann Skelly (Kissing Candice, Death and Nightingales).

Four Letters of Love is the latest in a string of productions filmed in Donegal in recent years,  including heels of Star Wars which was filmed in Inishowen in 2017, God’s Creatures starring Paul Mescal (2021) and In The Land of Saints and Sinners (Liam Neeson) which was shot in south west Donegal last year. The Donegal Film Office has been praised for bringing a number of high-profile projects to the county.

Film distributors Alison Thompson and Mark Gooder of Cornerstone said:

“Irish story-telling is riding a wave of success in the international marketplace, and we’re delighted to bring this beautiful romantic modern classic to the European Film Market for buyers to enjoy.”
