Seven spots to grab a tasty dinner in Galway tonight

Sarah Finnan

Food for every mood – including Blue Monday.

I usually start the week with the best of intentions, vowing to pre-prepare my lunches and avoid spending all my money on oat milk flat whites.

While the intent is there, the follow-through isn’t. Especially because I tend to leave my grocery shop for the week until Monday evening – which means I’ve already set myself up to fail by having no food.

And in keeping with the trend…today is no different. But if there was ever a day to treat yourself to a tasty dinner out, it’s today.

Here are seven spots to get a tasty dinner in Galway.

Jalan Jalan

One of the old reliables during my college years. I recommend the Nasi Goreng, though everything is good here. It’s also BYOB.

Fat Freddy’s

The dotiest Italian in Galway. Small and cosy, the interior is dimly lit by flickering candles and their garlic bread is DIVINE.

Handsome Burger

Recently named on the top 20 best burgers in Europe list, their use of prime, Irish beef and toppings such as tobacco onions and chorizo will leave you foaming at the mouth.

The Cellar Bar

They serve all-day breakfast and there’s nothing I love more than breakfast foods for dinner.

Papa Rich

Hands down some of the best Asian food in Galway. Portion sizes are big, prices are reasonable and the food is bloody delicious.

McDonagh’s

The only place to go for fish and chips.

An Pucan

Loads of hearty options and the promise of a celebratory ‘you made it through Monday’ pint.
