Look, renting is TOUGH in this country, we all know that.
And soz to say, but it’s even worse when you compare properties all around Ireland to see where you could be living for in and around €1,000 a month – the average price of a one bed apartment (well… studio apartment) in Dublin.
Honestly, it’s pretty harrowing to think we’re paying the same amount of money for a grimey box in the city centre as someone across the country is paying for a majestic countryside abode with a sun room and five bedrooms.
But hey, the price of the hustle and bustle is worth it, right? Maybe not..
Especially when you see the gorge places you could be living in every county in Ireland.
Which one would you choose?
Antrim
Balmoral Mews, Malone, Belfast, Co. Antrim – £900 (€1,041)
This three (three!) bedroom townhouse in South Belfast has an open plan modern kitchen/lounge/dining area spread over a further two floors. There’s also an adorable balcony overlooking a private garden.
Carlow
The Atrium, Shamrock Plaza, Carlow Town, Co. Carlow – €1,000
“An ideal home for the busy professional”, this luxury two-bed penthouseapartment is slick. There’s a wall mounted gas fire, the living room is wired for surround sound and there’s even a heated towel rail in the ensuite.
Cavan
Blenacup, killykeen, Cavan, Co. Cavan – €850
This family dream home is just two minutes drive from a forest park, and you’re allowed to have pets – the holy grail of rentals. And you can chill in house sun lounge too.
Clare
Glendree, Tulla, Co. Clare – €850
Live the fairytale life you were destined to have in this two-storey stone cottage. It has three bedrooms, a cosy stove and is a mere 15 minutes from Ennis.
Cork
Oysterhaven Harbour, Oysterhaven Bay, Kinsale, Co. Cork – €1,000
We <3 this house in the coastal location of Kinsale village. This two-bedroom, both ensuite, house in Oysterhaven has a balcony with the most stunning views, a stove in the kitchen and breakfast bar.
Donegal
Ard na Greine, Buncrana, Co. Donegal – €900
Who wants to love right beside the seaside? Us, please. This gorge house has four large bedrooms to the first floor, two of which are ensuite, and a decent sized living room that leads out to a v cute garden.
Dublin
North Circular Road, Dublin 7 – €1,000
This one bed, one bathroom flat is a four minute walk to Phoenix Park and is has amenities such as “furniture”, and “heaters”. There’s also security cameras outside and in common areas – we don’t want to think why this is needed.
Fermanagh
Watersedge Apts, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh – £700 (€805)
This middle floor, three bed two bathroom (one ensuite) apartment has ” glorious views over Rossole Lough”, a balcony, open plan kitchen and gas fire. The only downside? It’s unfurnished, but still pretttty fab.
Galway
Lower Fairhill Road, Galway City, Co. Galway – €975
This city centre apartment is perfectly located right above an Indian restaurant – the hangover food DREAM. There’s two bedrooms and one bathroom, nice wooden floors and fully furnished.
Kerry
Beaufort, Co. Kerry – €1,000
This huuuuge five bedroom and FOUR bathroom gaff in the countryside also has a detached garage, and is near to Killarney. Chill out areas include a sitting room, kitchen/dining area, and a sun room. Nice.
Kildare

First of all, imagine living right beside Electric Picnic?! <3 This duplex apartment has two double bedrooms and main bathroom upstairs, and two sitting rooms downstairs.
There’s also a commercial unit attached with its own separate entrance and with kitchen and toilet .
Leitrim
Acorn woods, Leitrim, Co. Leitrim – €850
This cute family home in Leitrim Village just five miles from Carrick-on-Shannon has four double bedrooms with master en-suite, and two other bathrooms. There’s also a cosy wood burning stove so it’s an easy house to heat – sorted.
Limerick
Castleoaks, Castleconnell, Co. Limerick – €1,000
Located in the scenic village of Castleconnell,this spacious three bedroom (one single, two double) terraced house also has two bathrooms. There’s a lovely conservatory looking out onto a south facing rear garden too.
Longford

Louth

Only 20 minutes from Dublin airport, this sweet house comprises of a sitting room, kitchen/dining room, utility room, main bathroom, two double bedrooms (master ensuite), a single room and a bathroom.
There’s also an enclosed back garden with a large decking area and a shed, and a side entrance.
Monaghan
