Ireland’s stunning scenery has just had a €15 million reboot with the opening of the Waterford Greenway, a 46km walking and cycle trail along the Great Southern and Western Railway line.
The dreamy route takes you through brick-lined tunnels framed by wild ferns and foliage, across a red iron railway bridge, up high on an 1878 viaduct and past a derelict 1950’s dance hall where many Waterford love stories began.

The trail leads from Dungarvan to Waterford City, and provides a new route for families to stroll along.
It’s also a haven for cyclists as they whizz along the dizzy heights of the bridges along the trail.

Doesn’t it look like something from a dreamworld? Summer days picnicking along here would be the perfect way to soak up some rare Irish sun.
The Greenway officially opens today, and more information can be found here.
